Ardennes Canada

When we left the turtle valley ranch in 1992 to farm on our own on our property, we were able to purchase 12 cow calf pairs and could pick them out of the 250 head herd. The cows we have now go back to those animals.
We moved the herd from Chase BC to McBride BC in 2006 and kept on working with that stock.

Our cows and calves are purely grass-fed. They never see any grain.
We like long living cows that can give birth on their own without assistance, to vigorous calves that are smaller, on their feet within a short time and suckling right away.

We actually butchered 2 cows in 2024 that we moved to McBride in 2006 as cows already, which would make them at least 20 years old. They had a calf every year for 18 years!

We like a smaller cow, with a deep, long body. Red Angus has been one of our preferred breeds but we have looked at other breeds too, like Speckled Park. We farmed this herd certified organic since we moved to Canada in 1988.
